Ceylon Pure Organic Wholegrain Heirloom White Rice

Rich in legendary tradition and culture, this heirloom wholegrain was grown over 2000 years ago, exclusively for the Kings of Ceylon. The exquisite aroma also referred to by the traditional name “Suwadel” (fragrant rice) together with its creamy taste made this tiny rice a popular choice in the ancient royal courts; now available to your family for a delicious dinner.

Compared to basmati or jasmine rice, Ceylon Pure heirloom white rice is a healthier option;

  • only whole grain with a yellowish unpolished brand, certified by Wholegrain Council.

  • has a lower glycemic index, thus making it an ideal choice for diabetic diets.

  • according to Indiginious Ayurvedic medicine, this rice is recommended for a glowing skin complexion, a better functioning digestive system and as a male aphrodisiac.

How to Cook

Rinse 1 cup of red rice

Add to a pot with a few drops of oil and a pinch of salt

Add 2 to 2 1/2 cups of cold water (less liquid for firmer texture)

Bring to a rapid boil, cooking for 3-5 minutes; Stir a few times to promote even cooking

Then cover the pot with a lid, reduce heat to a very low setting

Leave for 15-20 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed, to get a soft & tender texture
